Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 47% scale miniature Colt 1861 Navy revolver with detachable shoulder stock, made by Uberti in Italy and originally issued and sold by the United States Historical Society, under license from Colt in the 1980’s. This is the Presidential edition which is expertly and beautifully fully engraved, including the shoulder stock fittings and buttplate. 12 1/8″ long overall with the shoulder stock attached.  The revolver is 6″ long overall with a 3 9/16″ rifled barrel.  Checkered loading lever latch and hammer spur.  The top of the barrel factory roll stamped with the proper Colt one line address.  The left side of the frame marked “COLT’S PATENT”.  The left rear of the triggerguard marked “36 CAL”.  The bottom of the barrel, frame, triggerguard, and backstrap stamped with the serial number 19.  The side of the cylinder, the stock yoke, and the retainer that holds the stock to the bottom of the grip also stamped with the serial number 19.  The nut that tightens the revolver to the stock is knurled.  Fully functional, but non-firing. The barrel wedge, nipples, screws, hammer, trigger, lanyard ring, and stock locking screws are all charcoal blued. The frame, barrel, backstrap, triggerguard, shoulder stock fitting, and buttplate are all silver plated.  Unlike the original USHS versions, this one has had the cylinder, hammer, loading lever assembly, and trigger gold plated.  Beautiful high relief carved & finely checkered one piece grip with a very high relief American eagle & shield carved into the left side made by master ivory carver Dennis Holland.  The area surrounding the eagle as well as the whole right grip very finely checkered.  Nicely figured varnished walnut shoulder stock.  Includes a custom made mahogany hinged top case with a slide latch, and a round gold escutcheon inlaid into the top.  The case interior French fit and lined in a medium blue felt.  The interior lid with the Colt percussion loading instructions label.  Accessories include a silver plated bullet mold, a silver plated nipple wrench/screwdriver, a powder flask, a three piece brass oiler, a cap tin with Eley label, and a miniature period dummy cartridge packet.  This set was custom made by Mr. Nelson Perry about 15 – 20 years ago.  Nelson collected “Gold Colts”, and wrote a book on the subject.  I sold this set for Nelson’s wife after his passing many years ago.  The piece is in near mint condition, showing only some expected minor age tarnish to the silver plating and a couple minor bruised to the wood on the shoulder stock.  The case lid has a couple noticeable scratches.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
