Project Description
This is a 1/3 scale flintlock Kentucky pistol made by famous contemporary master gun maker William Buchele, pronounced Buckeley. 6 3/16″ long overall with a 3 7/8″ browned steel octagon barrel of .183 caliber. The barrel is bored through to the touch hole. The top of the barrel hand engraved “W. Buchele” in script. Brass furniture except for the barrel pin escutcheons which look to be silver. One-piece beautiful fiddle back maple stock. Both sides & the top of the pistol grip with silver wire, leaf, & flower inlays. Steel lock assembly, the hammer with both half & full cock. The lockplate engraved “L H H” in script. Mr. Buchele was one of the early makers striving to recreate the long rifle and has been considered one of the truly great builders. His book, “Creating The American Longrifle” is still in print and an essential book for those wishing to build Kentucky rifles. I will include a copy of his book with the purchase of this miniature. Mr. Buchele passed away in 1977, so this miniature is over 50 years old, & possibly much older. I also will be listing a 1/3 scale flintlock Kentucky rifle made by Mr. Buchele in the next few weeks. Price: $3,000.00.
