Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale Kentucky/Pennsylvania flintlock rifle by famous contemporary long rifle maker William Buchele. Mr. Buchele was one of the early modern day makers striving to recreate the long rifle and has been considered one of the truly great builders. His book, “Creating The American Longrifle” is still in print and an essential book for those wishing to build Kentucky rifles. I will include a copy of his book with the purchase of this miniature. Mr. Buchele passed away in 1977, so this miniature is over 50 years old, & possibly much older. 23 5/16″ long overall with a 16 5/8″ octagon barrel of .175 caliber. Browned steel barrel, lock assembly, & dovetailed rear sight. Beautifully engraved silver furniture. The front sight is a silver blade in a brass base that is dovetailed into the barrel. The trigger is steel with a brass or maybe gold overlay at the front. The top of the barrel hand engraved “W. Buchele” in script along with some decorative engraving, & even the muzzle is engraved! The lock has full cock only. Beautifully high relief carved one piece fiddle back maple stock with numerous silver wire inlays. Condition is good overall. There are two missing barrel pins. It could use a good cleaning. This is the only miniature longrifle known to have been made by Mr. Buchele, & is a beautiful example of his skills & work. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
