Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a miniature of the cannons used on the U.S.S. Constitution made by master miniature maker Vic Williams of Nevada. 11 5/8″ long overall with a 11 1/16″ cast iron barrel of .546 caliber. The barrel painted black, and is drilled through to the touch hold & this cannon will shoot given the proper powder charge and ball. The top of the barrel marked US just in front of the touch hole. The muzzle of the barrel marked 1798 at the top, and NHF at the bottom. All of the hardware is steel or iron, and painted black. The wood carriage & wheels are made with wood from the original U.S.S. Constitution that was sold after one of it’s refits. The carriage is painted a burnt orange. Includes the restraining ropes, the rear one with a wood pulley, and a leather covered wood water bucket. Also includes a copy of the documentation stating the wood as being from the U.S.S. Constitution, and obtained in 1973 when the Constitution was overhauled. Beautiful workmanship and attention to detail. I have three of these available as they were originally on a display that included four cannons and a partial gun deck and the gun port side of the ship. The display was too large & heavy, so it was tossed and only the cannons were kept. I’m keeping one cannon and the original documentation for my personal collection. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
