Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a beautiful pair of Japanese Samurai swords by an unknown maker.

The longer of the two is 8 5/8″ long overall in the scabbard.  The sword itself is 8 1/8″ long overall with a 5 9/16″ steel blade.  The handle looks to be ivory, but may be bone.  The rear of the blade where it meets the guard has a copper overlay.  The guard looks to be white brass, & is inlaid with a gold flower on each side.  Behind the guard is a finely engraved metal fitting that looks to be silver.  The scabbard looks to be finished in black & copper colored lacquer.  There is a finely engraved metal fitting at the throat of the scabbard.  The drag is also finely engraved looks to be silver with two gold inlaid flowers.  The hanger fitting on the scabbard is missing.

The shorter sword is 7″ long overall in the scabbard.  The sword itself is 6 3/8″ long with a 4 1/2″ steel blade.  It is almost exactly made & decorated as above except the shorter sword has an engraved silver grip pommel with a gold flower inlay & the hanger fitting is present on the scabbard except this sword has a small thin all steel knife fitted to a recess in the scabbard.  This knife has two gold flowers inlaid into the handle.

Both swords are in excellent near mint condition except for the above mentioned missing hanger fitting on the longer sword scabbard and some damage to the shorter sword scabbard at the top of the drag.

This is the finest set of miniature Samurai swords I have ever seen!  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
