Project Description

This is a very nice wheellock ball butt pistol made by an unknown maker.  I believe this to be antique, but possibly not period to the wheellock era.  4 7/16″ long overall with a 2 7/16″ blued smoothbore barrel that is engraved with decorative turnings mid barrel.  Solid brass frame with a really nice aged patina.  Fire blued lockplate, hammer, hammer jaw, hammer spring, & round ball trigger.  The blued tapered ramrod has a brass end.  Brass furniture on the lockplate.  The left side with a blued steel belt hook held in place by three brass rivets, & brass rivet dot details at the muzzle end.  The left side of the wrist with a beautiful high relief carved bust of a man’s face.  The ball butt with beautiful rope & ball decorations on each side.  Accessories include a really nice horn powder flask with brass fittings, a brass combination tool,  and a hinged top pig skin covered leather case with push button latch.  The case interior bottom French fit for the pistol with recesses & brass fittings for the flask & tool & lined in a russet felt.  The interior lid padded & lined in the same russet felt.  The case top corners with what looks to be sterling silver corners with hallmarks.  More A details on them tomorrow.  This is a really nice high quality piece by an obvious master!  Stock # CK-303.  Price: $3,500.00.
