!!!!!SOLD!!!!! Unknown Antique Miniature Japanese Netsuke Matchlock Pistol !!!!!SOLD!!!!!

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is an antique miniature  Japanese netsuke matchlock pistol by an unknown maker.  2 5/8″ long overall with a 1 5/8″ part octagon part round steel barrel.  Apart from the steel barrel, all of the other parts are yellow brass, except of course the wood stock.  The hammer & trigger are spring loaded.  The barrel is bored through to the touch hole, but the touch hole is not bored through to the barrel.  The barrel in very finely Damascened in star patterns, & there are three six pedal copper flowers inlaid into the barrel.    The muzzle of the barrel engraved in radial lines from the bore.  The hammer has some carving, the match end in the likeness of a dragon’s head.   The barrel is in excellent condition showing a nice smooth silver gray patina.  The brass showing  a nice untouched aged patina.  The hammer will cock, but the catch pin is worn & sometimes it will set & sometimes not.  There is a crack on the left side of the stock running diagonally from the barrel through the barrel retaining pin.  A nice high quality antique matchlock netsuke, seldom seen or offered for sale.  Stock # BF-41.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
