Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/6 scale side swing derringer by an unknown maker. 1 1/4″ long overall with a 23/32″ barrel of .062 caliber. Yellow brass frame & backstrap. Steel barrel, hammer, & trigger finished in the white. Two piece rosewood grips with a brass escutcheon on the left side, and a single screw entering from the right side. Serrated hammer spur. The hammer has a rimfire type firing pin, but this takes something way smaller than a 2mm RF. Looks like a lot of the mid to late 1800’s derringers. Could be a copy of a Hopkins & Allen, or similar. This piece has a functional action, the hammer with both half & full cock, but the trigger return spring is weak & the hammer doesn’t want to catch unless forward pressure is applied to the trigger while cocking. Looks old, could be antique, but who knows! A really neat piece with lots of character! !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
