Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/4 scale Hawkin style plains or buffalo rifle by an unknown maker. 11 15/16″ long overall with a 7 11/16″ octagon barrel. Steel barrel, lock assembly, ramrod thimbles, trigger, rear sight, & screws. Brass front sight, nose cap, triggerguard, and buttplate. One piece half stock typical of a Hawkin style rifle with a raised cheek piece on the left side. The cheek piece with a triangular German silver inlaid escutcheon. Hickory ramrod. The steel parts are a patina gray brown. The brass parts with a nice mellow aged patina. The hammer has both half & full cock. Complete with a round wood powder flask with steel finger lever stopper & an ivory spout, and what looks to be the original black leatherette hinged top case with flip latches. The case interior bottom French fit & lined in red felt. The interior top padded and lined in an off white silk. One of the latches is loose & needs a new pin to hold it in place. The rifle has a good look and is well made, but does show some file & machining marks, especially on the barrel. I think this may be the first miniature Hawkin style rifle I have ever seen. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
