Project Description
!!!!!PRICE REDUCED!!!!! This is a 1/4 scale Guatemalan Mauser bolt action rifle by an unknown maker. I have had others I’ve sold in the past that were made to commemorate a revolution on October 20, 1944, as I am sure this one is also. 8 5/16″ long not counting the bayonet with a 4 9/16″ round barrel of .094 caliber. 10 1/4″ long overall with the bayonet attached. The piece is made of machined and sheet steel parts with a blue finish, except for the bolt which was originally finished in the white. The action is not functional, but the bolt does flip up & retract, and is spring loaded upon closing. Adjustable rear sight. Sling swivels with a leather sling. Walnut stock & handguard. This one does not have a small steel the steel plate held in place by four small nails on the left side of the stock that is embossed “20 DE OCTUBRE, 1944, RECUERDO A LA, REVOLUCIONARIA” in five lines like the others I have had, otherwise it is almost identical. Like the others I have had, the buttplate is stamped “HECHO EN, GUATEMALA, POR, TULIO FUENTES Y” in four lines surrounded by a square. Unlike the others, the right side of the buttstock does not have a number stamped into it. The bayonet measures 3 3/8″ long overall with a 2″ spear point blade. Like the others I have had, the left side of the blade stamped “20 DE OCTUBRE DE 1944”. An interesting little rifle with some obvious history! A similar rifle featured on page 246 of the book “The Art Of Miniature Firearms, Centuries Of Craftsmanship. Price Reduced: $400.00.
