Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! I thought this was a Weston at first glance, but upon closer examination, it is not. It is very possibly a Fred Thacker, but no way to know for sure. Unknown 1/2 scale Sharps 4 barrel derringer chambered in 2mm rimfire with neat brass pipe case. This takes the later thick rim 2mm rimfire ammunition. 2 11/16″ long with a 1 15/32″ barrel group. The frame, the cross strap on the bottom of the grip, barrel release button, and the tiny front sight are yellow brass with a nice pleasing aged patina. The barrel group, trigger, hammer, screws, & pins are blued. The barrel group is nice on the top & bottom, showing 98% original blue, but both sides show mottling to the blue turning gray/brown, and show some minor pitting. The left side with about 60% blue and the right side with about 10% blue. The hammer spur is serrated, and the hammer has both half & full cock. The hammer has turned a gray/brown. One piece dark rosewood grip. Complete with a really neat sheet brass pipe type case that is hinged along the long straight side and has a push button latch. The case interior top & bottom padded, and lined in a burgundy silk. The brass case shows some expected tarnish and a couple of etched fingerprints. The rotating firing pin components are all there, but the hand that rotates the firing pin does not properly engage the firing pin to rotate it, and the hammer sometimes sticks when the trigger is pulled, needing a little nudge to fall. A really interesting piece that needs a little attention. Priced accordingly. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
