Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a roughly 1/2 scale, maybe a little larger, Colt single action army revolver by an unknown maker. This revolver is made entirely of brass with the exception of the steel springs & two piece mother of pearl grips. 6 3/4″ long overall with a 2 3/4″ rifled barrel of .229 diameter. The cylinder will chamber the 4mm rimfire cartridges, but the hammer just misses the rim of the cartridge. The barrel is stamped with the Colt one line barrel address “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”. The left front of the frame stamped “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871, JULY 2, 72, JAN. 19, 75” in three lines. Serial # “126016 stamped into the bottom of the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap. The front of the frame beneath the cylinder pin is engraved “NK.”, which I assume are either the maker’s or the engraver’s initials. The barrel address & front sight do not align perfectly with the frame sighting groove. Looks like the barrel needs to be tightened about 3/32″. The cylinder wobbles a little when the hammer is down, but locks up tighter when the hammer is cocked. Black powder frame with a screw retaining the cylinder pin & the later sighting notch at the rear of the topstrap, but has the later style oval ejector rod button. Checkered hammer spur. The revolver is very nicely engraved with about 75% coverage. There is a round scene of what looks to be a beaver on the left rear of the frame. Two piece mother of pearl grips with brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. The hammer has half & full cock. A neat obviously hand made miniature SAA by a talented, but not master, machinist. The engraving being superior to the revolver itself in my opinion. Priced accordingly. Stock # BK-79. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
