!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale C. B. Allen percussion single shot cutlass pistol by an unknown maker. 6 5/16″ long overall with a 29/32″ rifled octagon barrel and a 4″ cutlass blade. Steel construction with a blue finish. The right side of the cutlass blade gold inlaid “C.B. ALLEN SPRINGFIELD MASS” in a ribbon with leaf & flower embellishments. The left side of the blade gold inlaid with a three masted schooner sailing scene and “U.S.S. SAN JACINTO” in a ribbon. The barrel gold inlaid with gold five point stars on all of the visible barrel flats. The left side of the frame engraved “Patent, No 254”. The hammer has both half & full cock. The one piece grip is straight grained walnut, with an engraved oval silver escutcheon on each side. The left side with an “A”, the right side with a “S”. Excellent workmanship, and possibly antique. The miniature shows about 92% of the original blue finish, the balance having flaked & showing a steel gray patina. From the personal miniature collection of Joel Morrow.
