Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a Winchester 1866 octagon barreled rifle made by Uberti in Italy. 18 3/4″ long overall with a 9″ rifled round barrel of .21 caliber. These are often referred to as the Winchester “Yellow Boy” rifles because of their brass receiver, sideplates, and buttplate. Beautiful highly figured walnut buttstock and forearm with high gloss finish. Gold plated brass receiver, sideplates, buttplate and cleaning rod trapdoor. High polish blue steel barrel, magazine, lever, bands, etc. The crescent rifle buttplate with the hinged trapdoor for a cleaning rod (cleaning rod not included). Long range ladder type rear sight. The hammer sides polished in the white, the hammer spur finely checkered. No serial number stamped into the lower tang. There is no “A. Uberti – Italy” stamped into the top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight, like normal, instead, the top barrel flat is laser engraved with the correct two line Winchester barrel address “WINCHESTER-REPEATINGT-ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CT., KING’S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED MARCH 24, 1866 OCTOBER 16, 1860”. No, that “T” after “REPEATING” is not a typo on my part, it’s a typo on whoever did the laser engraving! Straight grip stock, full magazine, crescent rifle buttplate. Beautiful craftsmanship and typical Uberti high quality. Aside from the barrel address misprint, there is some frosting and scratches to the gold plating, some small scratches on the barrel, a little discoloration of the fire blue on the loading gate, and several bruises, dings, & scratches in the wood. All the flaws are small, & not that noticeable unless you look closely. Priced accordingly. Stock # PP-03. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
