!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a Winchester 1866 carbine made by Uberti in Italy. 18 3/4″ long overall with a 9″ rifled round barrel of .21 caliber. Straight grained walnut buttstock and forearm with high gloss varnished finish. Carbine flip rear sight. Finely checkered hammer spur. Serial number “61”stamped into the lower tang. “A. Uberti – Italy” stamped into the top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight. Gold plated brass receiver, sideplates, & cartridge lifter. Straight grip stock, full magazine. The steel barrel, magazine, lever, bands, hammer, trigger, and rear sight are finished in the white. The carbine buttplate with the sliding trapdoor is missing, as are the buttplate screws, the upper tang screw, the hammer spring, and the hammer spring retaining screw. The gold plating on the brass parts is thinning in some places. Would make a good project to make an Indian carbine, as the Indians commonly removed the buttplate to use as a hide scraper. Add a rawhide leather wrapped grip, some brass tacks and a couple feathers & viola, Indian carbine! Sold a s project, AS – IS, no returns. Stock # MWM-48. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
