Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 47% scale Winchester Model 1866 octagon barrel rifle by Uberti in Italy. 20 3/8″ long overall with a 11 7/16″ .21 caliber rifled octagon barrel. All steel parts are finished in the white with the exception of the loading gate, bolt, & sights which are blued. The brass parts are all gold plated as is normal for the Uberti 66’s. The wood is nicely figured French walnut, the buttstock with a straight grip. Serial # 137 is stamped into the rear of the lower tang. Full magazine, crescent buttplate with the trap door for a cleaning rod (rod not included). Checkered hammer spur. The dovetailed long range rear ladder sight has the distance graduation markings. The blade type front sight is also dovetailed into the barrel. No “Uberti” maker’s stamping under the rear sight. The top flat of the barrel laser engraved with the proper Winchester barrel address by me back when I worked for Imperial Miniature Armory. The barrel is plugged at the breech as are all of the Uberti rifles & carbines. The condition is near mint, showing only very minor signs of handling. Uberti 1866 octagon barrel rifles are scarce, as they were probably less than 10% of production, most of the production being round barrel carbines. One of only a handful of these with no Uberti marking & the barrel address! I’m probably going to send this rifle to Doug Turnbull for blue & case colors in the near future. Stock # CG-02. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
