Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 47% scale Winchester 1866 carbine made by Uberti in Italy, expertly and beautifully engraved by master engraver Angelo Bee, master engraver for Browning firearms for many years. 18 3/4″ long overall with a 9″ rifled round barrel of .21 caliber. Beautiful highly figured walnut buttstock and forearm with high gloss varnished finish. Gold plated brass receiver, sideplates, buttplate and cleaning rod trapdoor. High polish blue steel barrel, magazine, and barrel bands, and case colored lever, hammer, and trigger by Doug Turnbull of New York. The carbine buttplate with the sliding trapdoor for a cleaning rod (cleaning rod not included). Carbine flip rear sight. The hammer spur finely checkered. Beautiful craftsmanship and typical high Uberti quality. Very early serial number 6 stamped into the lower tang to the rear of the lever lock. No typical Uberti markings on the top of the barrel. Straight grip stock, full magazine, carbine buttplate. The left sideplate engraved with a very detailed round panel scene of a running buck whitetail deer, the balance of the left side of the sideplate and the frame pretty much 100% engraved in a very intricate scroll & border engraving. The right sideplate with a very detailed round panel scene of a running big horn sheep, and again the balance of the sideplate and the frame pretty much 100% engraved in a very intricate scroll & border engraving. The muzzle barrel band shows engraving on each side. The forestock barrel band shows engraving on the top and sides above the screw. The buttplate with engraving at the top, just above the trapdoor. The lever with engraving on the bottom edge. The metal is near perfect. The wood does show some minor handling marks, with a minor ding in the middle of the left side of the buttsock. You will see very few of these Uberti 1866 carbines with case colored parts, and when you do, they will usually be engraved by Angelo, with metal polish and finish by Turnbull. We did about ten of these, with Angelo doing the engraving, and Turnbull doing the final polish, bluing, and case colors, back when I worked for IMA. I was the one who did final assembly once everything was finished. A truly magnificent piece!  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
