Many years ago I had a customer who had a very special one-of-a-kind engraved Colt Sheriff’s model & he wanted to duplicate it as close as possible in miniature. We started with a special ordered Uberti factory engraved Sheriff’s model direct from Uberti. Roger Sampson removed the normal plug in the barrel, then made & installed the custom dovetailed front sight with blue base & nickel silver blade. The top of the barrel laser engraved, by me, with the proper two line Colt barrel address. Dennis Holland made the custom double sided high relief two piece grips out of synthetic mother of pearl, featuring a dog’s head on the left side and a standing naked lady with flowing hair on the right side. There is a single screw entering from the left grip, which does not show on the right side as per the original, having an embedded nut on the inside of the right grip. My customer sold his full size Colt in a Rock Island Auction Company auction a while back where it was featured with a two page spread showing both sides, very prestigious as usually there are 3 – 6 guns per page! I have original catalog pages of that Colt that will be included with the sale of this miniature. I bought the miniature back from him, & he was happy that I wanted & bought it back, thanks Bruce! The engraving is slightly different, & his was a .38 Special, but it was as close as we could make it at that time, & it would be very difficult to duplicate this kind of piece today. It’s a gorgeous & very special one-of-a-kind miniature that took almost a year to finish all the custom work! Mint new condition. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
