Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 47% scale Colt single action revolver made by A. Uberti in Italy. Fully functional, but non-firing. 6″ long overall with a 3 7/16″ rifled barrel. Features include Nickel finish, smokeless powder frame, oval ejector rod button, a spring loaded plunger secured ejector rod, and the later frame top sighting grooved top strap. There are no triggerguard or frame markings. Serial number 3421 stamped into the frame, & trigger guard. 421 stamped into the bottom of the backstrap. The bottom of the barrel roll stamped A. UBERTI – ITALY. Beautifully figured one piece walnut grips with an oil finish. What is really interesting about this piece is the brass triggerguard and backstrap. This is one of the highest serial numbers I have ever seen. I suspect that at the very end of production, they ran out of steel triggerguards & backstraps, and substituted the brass triggerguards & backstraps from the 1860 Army percussion revolvers which are virtually the same. Yes, speculation on my part, but it does make sense! And why didn’t they just nickel plate the brass parts? Then no one would have ever known unless they checked with a magnet. Anyway, this is an extremely rare Uberti factory variation for those who like such things. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
