Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a “Classic Edition” United States Historical Society 47% scale miniature Colt 1860 Army revolver. Fully functional, but non-firing. Charcoal blue and case colored finish with a nicely figured one piece rosewood grip. Factory roll marked barrel address “-ADDRESS SAM (small L, underlined) COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-“. “.44 Cal” marked triggerguard. The front left of the frame marked “COLT’S, PATENT” in two lines. Roll engraved cylinder with the Ormsby naval battle scene. Serial number “145” stamped into the bottom of the barrel lug, the bottom front of the frame, the bottom front of the triggerguard, and the bottom of the backstrap. The cylinder stamped “COLT’S PATENT No 45, PAT SEPT 10th, 1850” in two lines. Checkered hammer spur, serrated loading lever catch. The hammer with the typical Colt four clicks when cocked slowly. These miniatures were made by Uberti for the USHS under license from Colt in the mid 80’s. They were a limited edition of 1500. Unlike the other Uberti miniature Colt revolvers, which Uberti continued to make after the USHS production until about 2008, these miniature 1860 Colt revolvers have not been made in over 30 years, as the metal casting mold for the 1860 barrel was somehow destroyed or damaged, and it was not economically feasible for Uberti to make a new one at that time. Complete with the original USHS mahogany casing with the “COLT” logo stamped into the right front corner of the lid. The interior bottom of the case is French fit, & lined in a dark red velour. There is the typical rectangular brass plaque in the interior bottom which reads “1860 ARMY COLT MINIATURE, CLASSIC EDITION, COLT FIREARMS, UNITED STATES HISTORICAL SOCIETY” in four lines. The interior lid is padded and lined in the same dark red velour. The case bottom lined in a brown felt. The revolver is mechanically excellent and works perfectly, but the revolver has light, even, surface rust over most of the barrel & backstrap surfaces. With a little oil & some 0000 steel wool, it will probably clean up to look much better, but I leave that to the buyer. The case is in excellent condition, but does have some very minor signs of handling. Priced accordingly. Blemished Bargain. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
