Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale “Southener” single shot derringer by the legendary Tom P. Weston of Mexico City, Mexico, made from the mid 1940’s to the mid 1970’s.  2 1/2″ long overall with a 1 1/4″ octagon rifled barrel of .22 caliber.  Chambered for the .22 short rimfire cartridge.  Blue steel barrel, hammer, trigger, screws, & pins.  Brass frame, backstrap, & front sight.  Functional extractor.  Checkered hammer spur, the hammer with both half & full cock.  Two piece walnut grips with brass escutcheons and a single screw on each side.  The top of the barrel expertly engraved “SOUTHENER”.  the left side of the barrel engraved “MERRIMACK ARMS & M.F’G’ Co, NEWBURYPORT MASS., PATENTED APRIL 9, 1867”, in three lines.  Complete with the original Weston beveled glass topped mahogany puzzle box case.  The interior French fit & lined in red leather.  Accessories include a large diameter copper plated lift top tin & a two piece blue steel cleaning/extractor rod with walnut handle & brass ferrule.  When the insert is removed, there are some markings in pencil on the interior bottom of the wood.  No clue what most of it means, but looks like it could have been made in October of 1976.  The hammer must be pulled back to half cock, then the button on the bottom of the frame depressed to swing open the barrel to the left.  I am including one round of .22 short dummy ammunition so you can see that it chambers and the firing pin makes a good strike.  Excellent near mint condition.  All FFL rules apply since this is chambered in .22 short.  Stock # KB-06.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
