Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale Hopkins & Allen “Parrot Head” derringer made by Tom P. Weston in Mexico City, Mexico, probably in the late 1940’s to early 1960’s.  Fully functional and shoots the 2mm rim fire cartridge.  1 3/4″ long overall with a 7/8″ smoothbore barrel of about .085 caliber.  The steel parts are nicely polished and finished in a beautiful fire blue.  The tip of the trigger is serrated.  There is a button on the left rear of the frame that when pushed forward releases the barrel to pop up for loading.  Two piece mother of pearl grips with brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side.  The left side of the barrel hand engraved with the Hopkins & Allen barrel address.  Complete with the original dark red and black pebble grained hinge top casing, an ivory handled blue steel cleaning/ejector rod, and a pill capsule containing a number of 2mm rimfire blank cartridges.  The case interior bottom lines in a very dark green velour with two loops, one for the pistol muzzle, the other for the capsule of cartridges.  The interior lid is an off white silk with the Weston markings (see photo).  The bottom of the case marked in pencil “HOPKINS, CONCHA, $475.00, Pearl, grips, in 5 lines.  These pebble grain cases are extremely rare, I have only ever seen 3 or 4.  Pretty sure I sold this exact piece about 10 – 12 years ago.  Mechanically perfect.  The pistol is in beautiful near mint condition, I’d call it 98+%.  The case shows some edge wear and a couple small flaked spots on the outside.  In the interior, the muzzle loop is broken.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
