Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale Hopkins & Allen “Parrot Head” derringer made by Tom P. Weston in Mexico City, Mexico, in the mid 1940’s to mid 1970’s.  Fully functional and shoots the 2mm rim fire cartridge.  1 3/4″ long overall with a 7/8″ smoothbore barrel of about .085 caliber.  Steel construction with a charcoal blue finish.  The tip of the trigger is serrated.  There is a button on the left rear of the frame that when pushed forward releases the barrel to pop up for loading.  Two piece ivory grips with brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side, the ivory with a very pleasing aged patina.  The left side of the barrel hand engraved with the Hopkins & Allen barrel address “HOPKINS & ALLEN ARMS CO., NORWICH, CONN. U.S.A., in two lines, along with some border engraving.  The engraving was done after the miniature was blued, so stands out quite nicely.  Complete with the original deluxe beveled glass topped mahogany case.  The interior French fit & lined in a red felt with green border edgings.  Accessories include an ivory handled blued cleaning/extractor rod with a brass ferrule, a twisted wire bore brush with loop handle, & a rectangular steel lift top tin which contains about 10 2mm rimfire blank cartridges in a gelatin pill capsule.  The bottom of the case has the Weston oval brass tag with red enamel.  Pulling the insert out of the case you can see where Weston stamped the interior bottom with his rubber stamp at the time which reads “WESTON REFORMA, PASEO DE LA REFORMA 312-1., ESQUINA CON CALLE AMBERES, TEL 25-63-59, MEXICO 6, D. F.,  in five lines.  There are also the letters “MXDX”, probably a price code, in what looks to be pencil.  The pistol shows some very minor scratches & a small rust spot on the left front of the barrel.  The case beveled glass has two corners that are chipped but are barely noticeable once slid into the case, and there are some minor handling marks to the wood.  Stock # BK-04, !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
