!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale BelMex single shot pistol made by Top P. Weston in Mexico City, Mexico in 1955. This is the much more scarce 3mm centerfire version which shoots the Weston proprietary 3mm externally primed centerfire blanks. 2 1/4″ long overall with a 1 5/16″ barrel of about .096 caliber. Blued finish except for the hammer which is case hardened. The hammer has both half & full cock. Two piece mother of pearl grips with yellow brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. The bottom of the grip butt with a lanyard ring. Cased in a very early deluxe Weston glass topped mahogany casing with the green oval Weston tag on the bottom. These early green tagged Weston cases are quite rare. The tag reading “WESTON’S, MADERO 13, MEXICO CITY, MEXICO” in three lines. The interior French fit and covered in a brick red suede leather. There is a leather pull tab to assist in removing the pistol from the case. Accessories include a blue steel lift top cap box with a brass knob on top and an ivory handled blue steel cleaning rod with brass escutcheon. The tin stamped on the bottom “Dora”. When the insert is removed, the inside of the bottom is marked in pencil “ROBERT SIMON, TWX.IE, 7-15-55”. There is a disappearing hanger hook inletted into the back edge of the right side of the case so the case could be hung on the wall, a feature I’ve never seen on a Weston case before. The pistol is in excellent condition showing about 98% original blue. There is a small blue blemish on the top rear of the barrel. The grips and case are also excellent. Included are four rounds of the 3mm centerfire blank ammunition. Unfortunately, like almost all of these I’ve ever seen, they are corroded, and will not fire. The priming compound on these is extremely corrosive, and hydroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture. When they do, they corrode. In my 20+ years of dealing in miniatures, I’ve only see 3 mint rounds, out of hundreds. And by the way, do not store these cartridges inside the case with the miniature, or you will have problems!
