!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Winchester Model 1866 saddle ring carbine made by Tom P. Weston of Mexico City, Mexico circa 1950’s. 19 1/16″ long overall with a 10″ round barrel of .22 caliber. Straight grip, full magazine, crescent buttplate. This miniature is fully functional. It is chambered for, and will shoot, the .22 short rim fire cartridge, and as such, all FFL rules apply. This papers as a pistol. Highly polished blue steel barrel, magazine tube, barrel bands, sights, loading gate, bolt, saddle ring, and screws. Case colored hammer and lever. Yellow brass frame, sideplates, cartridge lifter, buttplate, and buttplate trapdoor.. The walnut buttstock and forearm with a red tint varnish. The top of the barrel marked “WINCHESTERS-REPEATING-ARMS NEW HAVEN CT., KING’S IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866 OCTOBER 16, 1860” in two lines. The lower tang stamped “NO 44” under the lever. The rear of the lower tang marked “TOM P. WESTON, MEXICO, D.F.” in two lines. There is a three piece blue steel cleaning rod with brass handle and slotted end included, which is accessed through the buttplate trap door. Beautiful near mint condition showing only minor signs of handling. 99+% original bright high polish blue, 99+% original case colors. The brass parts with a beautiful patina that only comes with age. The wood showing just a couple very minor scratches. This exact miniature is featured on the cover of the Fall 1975 Abercrombie & Fitch catalog, and is offered for sale on the inside of the front cover for $6,000.00. An original catalog is included with the miniature. Interesting that the serial number is 44, which would be the original caliber of a full size Winchester 1866 carbine. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
