Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Colt number 3 derringer by Tom P. Weston of Mexico city, Mexico, probably made in the late 1940’s to mid 1960’s. 2 7/8″ long overall with a 1 17/32″ round unrifled barrel of about .201 caliber. Silver plated brass frame. Blue barrel, hammer, trigger, & screws. Two piece mahogany grips with yellow brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. The outer case is a later non original hinged top clam shell style box covered in a medium blue leather. The top with a brass plaque reading “Colt, Baby Derringer, No. 119” in three lines. The interior lid with a green cloth liner. the interior bottom has what looks to be the original Weston case insert with red cloth edging and a green felt lining. there are two gray cloth spacers, one on each side. This was probably originally in the normal beveled glass topped mahogany case, but the case was damaged somehow. Accessories include a mahogany handled cleaning rod with blue shaft and brass ferrule, 5 live 4mm short cartridges, and a silver plated lift top tin filled with 4mm short blank cartridges. The miniature is in good condition showing about 95% original silver plating on the frame, about 90% thinning blue on the barrel, hammer, trigger, & screws. The original case insert shows wear and age darkening. The more modern outer case is near mint. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
