Project Description

This exact miniature is featured in Arthur Brown’s book “Miniature Guns of Mexico” on page 166.

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a beautiful true 50% or 1/2 scale Colt single action army revolver by Tom P. Weston of Mexico City, probably made in the 1950’s to mid 1960’s.  Weston only made about 30 Colt SAA revolvers, and they are probably the most sought after of Weston miniatures.  I have one in my own collection!  This miniature Weston Colt SAA is chambered for and will shoot the 4 mm rimfire cartridge.   5″ long overall with a 2 3/8″ rifled barrel of .177 caliber.  Beautiful highly polished blue barrel, ejector rod housing, ejector rod, triggerguard, backstrap, cylinder, cylinder pin, loading gate, & screws.  The hammer is blued with the sides polished in the white.  Case colored frame.  The top of the barrel hand engraved with the Colt two line barrel address “COLT’S PT. F.A.MFG. CO., HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”.  The left side of the barrel hand engraved “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER”.  The left side of the frame hand engraved with the Colt patent dates in two lines “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871., JULY 2, 72, JAN. 16, 75.”, then the Colt rampant horse logo in a circle.  The serial number “22” stamped into the bottom front of the frame, the bottom front of the triggerguard, and the bottom of the backstrap.    The topstrap has the later sighting notch at the very rear.  Very finely checkered hammer spur.  Smokeless powder frame with the oval ejector rod button, and a spring loaded plunger to release the cylinder pin.  Blued blade type front sight.  The hammer has the typical four clicks when you cock it slowly.  One piece walnut grip.  Complete with the original Weston deluxe hinged top case with push button latch & interior beveled glass.  The case is mostly mahogany, except for the top which is done in a beautiful parquet walnut.  The case interior is lined in red kid goat leather.  The bottom is French fit, & has a rectangular brass plaque with scalloped corners that reads “FRONTIER COLT (logo) 1873.  The revolver is in excellent plus near mint condition but does show a couple minor blemished.  One is behind one of the cylinder flutes, a tiny one on the loading gate.  The case shows some bumps & bruises, & the lining that actually touches the revolver is pushed down at the top of the backstrap area and there are some repairs to that lining in several areas.  The revolver fits very tight!  The bottom of the case has the typical red enamel on brass oval Weston tag which reads “WESTON, MEXICO, D.F.  This exact miniature is featured in Arthur Brown’s book “Miniature Guns of Mexico” on page 166.  Art list this miniature SAA as being chambered in .22 short.  He is mistaken, it is chambered for the 4mm rimfire cartridge.  I will include a copy of Art’s book with the purchase of this miniature.   I am also including twelve rounds of 4mm long rimfire loaded rounds.  The bottom 3 photos show this Weston SAA next to an Uberti 47% scale SAA where you can see that the Weston is noticeably larger.  The difference between 47% & 50% is more than you would think!  Stock # TP-20.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
