Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale Kentucky or Pennsylvania flintlock rifle made by master miniature maker Stanley Blashak of New Castle, Pennsylvania, probably in the 1970’s. 21 11/16″ long overall with a 15 11/16″ .154 caliber octagon barrel with a browned finish. The barrel is bored through to the touch hole. Brass dovetailed front blade sight, browned sporting rear sight. The lock assembly is also browned. The rifle lock has both half & full cock, & both work perfectly with a very crisp action. The barrel has four barrel keys to release the barrel from the stock for cleaning. The four barrel keys each have a sterling silver escutcheon on each side. The ramrod thimbles, triggerguard, buttplate, patchbox, patchbox door, & nose cap are yellow brass. The patchbox, patchbox door, side plate, & buttplate are nicely hand engraved. There is an engraved silver inlay into the top of the stock just behind & to each side of the barrel tang, sorta resembling a fancy “y”. Behind that is an oval inlay engraved with an un-decipherable letter, then the letter “A”. Each side of the stock just behind the lockplate & sideplate has a engraved heart turned sideways with the point towards the front. The left stock cheekpiece inlaid with a silver oval depicting a spread winged American eagle with olive branches & arrows, and what looks like a pair of wings just below that matches the barrel key escutcheons. The pierced patchbox is elaborately engraved & the door is spring loaded and released by a small button at the bottom rear of the butt. The stock is beautiful fiddleback maple with extensive high relief carving to the left wrist and right side of the stock There are some nice fluted lines along each side of the ramrod channel. The ramrod looks to be hickory, and has a brass tip. The inside of the patchbox door is stamped “STANLEY BLASHAK, NEW CASTLE, PA.” in two lines. Beautiful near mint condition, and an example of Stanley’s finest work! !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
