Project Description
This is a 1/3 scale combination matchlock gun & battel axe made by expert miniaturist Stanley Blashak. 10 3/8″ long overall with a 4 7/8″ part octagon part round steel barrel of .185 caliber. The axe head measures 2 1/16″ long. The metal parts are steel finished in the white except for a small silver oval marked “STAN BLASHAK, NEW CASTLE, PA” just in front of the triggerguard and the abundant silver wire scroll inlays. The axe blade, modestly engraved. One piece walnut stock with numerous ivory inlays of what looks to be rabbits & foxes along with lots of ivory dots and lots of mother of pearl flowers. Very beautiful & complicated inlay work that must have taken scores, maybe hundreds of hours to complete. I believe this has to be the most intricate stock work I’ve ever seen by Stanley. The butt of the stock is carved & scrimshawed ivory with a steel head knocker. Includes an ivory powder flask with silver top & bottom. All in the original Blashak walnut hinged top case with swivel latch. The interior French fit & lined in a dark green felt. An absolutely beautiful piece & some of Stanley’s finest work! Mint condition. Stock # CK-78. Price: $3,500.00.
