Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a really spectacular Uberti 47% scale Colt single action army revolver.  6″ long overall with a 3 7/16″ rifled barrel of .21 caliber.  This revolver has been modified by Larry Smith to shoot his special made proprietary .21 caliber centerfire ammunition, which unfortunately is no longer available.  The barrel does not have the normal factory hardened steel plug with tapered end, the cylinder has been reamed to fit his cartridges, The firing pin hole in the frame has been elongated & enlarged, & the factory short firing pin has been replaced by one of proper length to hit the cartridge primer.  Fully factory engraved by Uberti with a silver plated finish, except for the gorgeous fire blued screws.  The Tiffany style grip was made by Roberto Hinze in Houston, & is solid sterling silver with solid 14 karat gold inserts on each side & on the bottom.  The left insert depicting a rider on a horse with a flag & cannon wheel.  The right insert depicting a lady in a flowing dress sitting on a shield holding a sword.  The bottom insert depicting a shield with a stand of flags at the top, one of which has a liberty cap.   At the time these grips were made, there was about $400.00 in gold in the three inserts on the grip, back when gold was $400.00/ounce.  Today that would be about $2,000.00!  The top of the barrel has the factory roll stamped one line italics Colt barrel address, and there is no Uberti marking on the bottom of the barrel.  The left front of the frame with the two line Colt patent dates.  The left rear of the triggerguard marked .45 CAL.  The frame & triggerguard marked with the serial # 1383, making this a fairly early piece.  Black powder frame with the early pinched frame topstrap, round bullseye ejector rod button, and the cylinder pin retained by a screw.  Silver plated blade type front sight.  Accessories include a Larry Smith fire blued steel cleaning rod with patch slot, a blued L shaped two blade screwdriver, a Larry Smith marked nickel plated oiler, 27 solid brass un-headstamped dummy cartridges, and the case lock key.  All cased in a nice hinged top walnut case with key lock made by Wayne Hoosier for Imperial Miniature Armory.  The case interior semi French fit & lined in a purple felt.  The case lid with the Colt instructions label.  The whole cased set is in 99+% new condition.  The revolver does show some expected tarnish to the silver plating in a few areas.  This may be the best Uberti Colt SAA I have ever seen!  Stock # BK-50.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
