Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/3 scale cane gun made by master miniature maker Ron DeWalt of Michigan.  12″ long overall with a 9 15/16″ barrel of .178 caliber.  The barrel is made of segmented wood with thin black spacers, the wools looks like walnut, with a steel liner.  The breech & barrel fittings are blued steel except for a brass band where the breech meets the wood.  Ivory handle with a nice aged patina & beautiful grain.  The conical muzzle plug has concentric knurled rings, & when removed, has the tools to cock the hammer.  The shaft of the muzzle plug marked “DEWALT”.  The handle unscrews to load the cartridge, & the cane has a centerfire firing pin.  The firing pin is recessed into the handle with a hole, & the tool is used to hook it & pull it out to cock.  To fire, you lift the bottom of the firing pin, I did it with my thumb as shown in the photo.  While this will chamber the 4mm rimfire cartridge, & put a nice dent in the center of the cartridge head, it will not go bang as they are rimfire!  I tried the 4mm centerfire sub-caliber cartridges, but they will not chamber & the headspace would be wrong.  Complete with the original DeWalt mahogany puzzle box glass topped case.  The interior bottom lined in red felt.  Includes an ivory handled blue steel cleaning/extractor rod.  There is a white rectangular sticker on the bottom of the case marked in hand written ink “1/3 SCALE CANE GUN, – Ron DeWalt, Stock No. 765 (Whichard).  Excellent condition.  Ex Kennith Whichard & Rodney Barron collections.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
