Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a cased set of gentleman’s weapons made by Richard Bonham of England. Mr. Bonham was a gun maker to the the King of England. Included is a flintlock pistol, sword with ivory handle & red leather scabbard, a dagger with scabbard, peace pipe tomahawk with engraved silver head & ivory shaft, bullet mold with sprue cutter casting a single round ball, brass powder charger, brass powder measure with ivory handle, silver plated oiler, silver plated patch cutter, ivory mallet, engraved silver gorget, (a piece of armor protecting the throat), a brush & vent pick, & some lead balls.
The pistol measures 4 1/8″ long overall with a 2 9/16″ silver plated streel barrel of .150 caliber. The barrel is swamped at the muzzle, so I measured one of the lead balls to get the caliber. The lock is steel finished in the white & the hammer has both half & full cock. The lockplate is signed “Bonham”. One piece rosewood stock. Silver furniture, the triggerguard, sideplate, front sight, & buttcap engraved. The front sight & buttcap engraved with the likeness of an angry man. Rosewood ramrod with a silver tip.
The sword blade is steel & lightly engraved, the dagger blade is plain but the scabbard is engraved. Great craftsmanship and a beautiful set with wonderful accessories, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. I know little to nothing about such things, so I’ll let the photos tell the story. All housed in a brown pebble brain leather hinged top case with slide latche. The interior English fit & lined in faded red to pink felt. The interior lid with the makers paper label attached. This exact miniature featured in the book “The Art Of Miniature Firearms” on page 215! Stock# CK-93. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
