Project Description
!!!!!PRICE REDUCED!!!!!
This is a 1/2 scale Webley & Scott self loading .455 caliber Mark 1, 1913 pistol made by the legendary Raymond E. Hutchens of Indianapolis, Indiana. Includes the original case, which I think is cocobolo, two magazines, six dummy cartridges, (one has a firing pin dent), and the detachable shoulder stock. Mr. Hutchens was one of the two finest miniature firearms craftsmen to ever walk the planet, the other being Leon Crottet. 4 9/32″ long overall with a 2 1/2″ barrel of .22 caliber. This piece is absolutely flawless in every way, uncompromising, perfect exactness!!! 100% fully functional. The barrel is rifled with the correct scale twist, number of groves, and width & depth of the groves. The markings are all done the exact same way that the Webley & Scott factory would have done, roll stamps & punch stamps. The finish is done exactly as the factory, including paying attention to even get the polishing lines correct. All steel construction except for the checkered ebony grips. Most parts are a very high polish black blue, except for the barrel & extractor which are finished in the white, and the grip escutcheons which look to be German silver. The left front of the slide roll stamped with what looks to be the Webley & Scott logo of a bullet with flames coming out of the top, & “W & S” underneath. Farther back on the slide is roll stamped “WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD (the TD are a smaller font), “PISTOL SELF LOADING 455 MARK I, 1913” in three lines. The left side of the trigger is marked with an engraver’s vise with the letters REM inside. This is Mr. Hutchen’s makers mark. The left rear of the frame marked with an upward pointing arrow over a crown over 54 over B. The left side of the grip safety marked “2525”. The left rear of the hammer marked “SAFE”, only visible when the safety is on. The right top rear of the barrel, and the right top of the slide just to the left front of the extractor marked “’13 over a crown over GR over crossed swords over P”. The bottom front of the frame marked “2525”. Both sides of the rear of the slide are serrated, as is the hammer spur, the magazine release, and the safety. There is a spring loaded button on the right side of the rear sight. Not really sure what it does, but the right side is checkered. There is a round button at the top right rear of the triggerguard that is serrated in concentric circles. Not sure what it does either. I’ve never actually seen, much less handled one of these in full size! Includes two unmarked magazines. The detachable should stock has a highly black blue fitting to attach to the miniature, the wood being made from the same cocobolo as the case. The metal fitting marked on the left side “an upward arrow over a crown over a B over B2”. Also includes six dummy .455 Webley self loading cartridges with guilding metal bullets, brass cases, brass primers, and KYNOCK 455 AUTO headstamps. The hinged top case has a push button latch. The latch button marked with Mr. Hutchen’s engraver’s vice with his initials, “REH”. The case is English fit & lined in a green felt. The bottom of the case stamped “MADE BY, ED HUTCHENS” in two lines. This is one of only two of these made by Mr. Hutchens, both of which are shown on pages 40 & 41 of Joseph Kramer’s book Scale Model Firearms. A softbound copy of the book will be included with this sale. Mint new condition except the shoulder stock has some minor scratches. If only the very best will do, you have found it! Stock # BDCA-16. Price Reduced: $7,500.00.
