Project Description
This is a 47% scale Colt second model dragoon percussion revolver made by Uberti in Italy. This is an extremely rare, most likely a prototype, as I have only ever seen this one & one other in nearly 30 years. Note the rectangular cylinder stops with approaches and square back triggerguard which makes this a second model dragoon. 6 7/16″ long overall with a 3 7/16″ part octagon part round rifled barrel of .195 caliber. The barrel, cylinder, wedge, trigger, and screws are finished in a beautiful high polish charcoal blue. The frame, loading lever, rammer, and hammer are case colored. The backstrap and triggerguard are silver plated. Yellow brass blade type front sight, checkered hammer spur. Factory one piece ivory grip showing some age patina and nice grain. Serial number 100 stamped into the barrel, frame, triggerguard, backstrap, and cylinder in the usual places. The top of the barrel with the proper Uberti factory roll stamped Colt barrel address. The bottom of the barrel with the Uberti marking which is hidden by the loading lever. The left side of the frame with the COLT’S PATENT roll stamped marking. The cylinder with the factory roll stamped Texas Ranger & Indian battle scene, MODEL U.S.M.R., THE SERIAL NUMBER, and COLT’S PATENT. There are also British proof marks on the left side of the barrel in front of the wedge, and at the rear of the cylinder between each nipple. Includes a nice mahogany hinged top casing with a Colt key lock. The outer lid has a round yellow brass escutcheon inlaid into the center. The interior is English fit and lined in a buff suede cloth, the lid interior with the Colt loading instructions label. Accessories include the best 47% scale Dragoon powder flask I have ever seen. It is stamped of copper sheet instead of the usual brass, and includes a yellow brass top, spout, and ball compartment lid. The triangular hanging rings are copper. A brass two cavity bullet mold with a COLT’S PATENT marked blue steel sprue cutter, a blue nipple wrench/screwdriver/mainspring vise, a cap tin with green Eley label, and a dummy cartridge packet round out the accessories. The revolver and accessories are mint new. The interior of the case is missing a partition, which was obviously removed to accommodate the flask, and there are glue marks where the partition used to be. It doesn’t show much when the flask is in place. Some of the other partitions are loose at their ends, and the lining is loose in a couple places. Although no key for the lock is shown, one is included. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this super rare piece to your collection. Price: $2,500.00.
