Project Description

You can see a video of these accessories and the rifle they were once with here:  https://youtu.be/4U8jrhYjSCc

This is a 1/5 scale very early fish tail powder flask or charger, 2 accessory containers, and a wrench/screwdriver made by Giles Lavandera of France, made for a matchlock musket set he made many years ago.  The flask measures 1 13/16″ long overall including the spout.  5/8″ thick.  1 1/4″ wide at the widest part of the “fishtail”.  Looks to be made of aluminum, easy to work with, & looks like the silver that would have been used in the day.  The side panels look to be very fine grained maple.  One side has an applied ivory fleur de lies.  The top is hinged, with a hasp & staple closure secured by a jewelry type lobster claw clasp with secured chain.  There is a spring loaded plunger that meters the power charge on the same side as the hasp & staple.  The larger rectangular container, also maple, has two doors with aluminum knobs on the top hinging on a common pin in the center.  It measures 1 11/32″ X 1 1/8″ X 1/2″.  One compartment has a large quantity of beautiful cork wads that are 3/16″ in diameter & about 1/32″ thick.  The other compartment has a large quantity of the the smallest cloth cleaning patches I have ever seen measuring about 5/16″ square, & so thin you can read through them!  The smaller container, maple, contains a number of round steel shot measuring .155″.  The container measures 1 1/8″ X 12″ X 12″.  The top is hinged, and closed with a leather thong secured to a small aluminum knob.   I also have the wrench shown in the video which will be included with the set. Truly beautiful workmanship and just a neat set.  It’s a pity these have become separated from their rifle, case, & other accessories!  Hopefully, someone out there has the rest of this set & finds my website & this listing so they can be reunited!  Price:  $675.00.
