!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a cased pair of 1/2 scale BelMex single shot pistol made by Top P. Weston in Mexico City, Mexico in 1950’s to mid 1960’s. These are both the much more scarce 3mm centerfire version which shoots the Weston proprietary 3mm externally primed centerfire blanks. 2 1/4″ long overall with a 1 5/16″ barrel of about .096 caliber. This is the only two Weston BelMex pistols I have ever seen that have case colored frames, hammers, and triggers!!! Fire blue barrels. The hammers have both half & full cock. Two piece ivory grips with yellow brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. Cased in a very early deluxe Weston hinged top maple casing with with silver flip latch. The interior French fit. The interior bottom only lined in a red felt. The interior top lined in an orange felt that I think has faded from red. Accessories include an ivory handled blue steel cleaning rod with brass escutcheon, an ivory handled blue steel blade screwdriver with brass escutcheon, and 26 Weston 3 mm externally primed centerfire blank cartridges. Unfortunately, like almost all of these I’ve ever seen, most are corroded, and probably will not fire, although there are four that might be viable. The priming compound on these is extremely corrosive, and hydroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture. When they do, they corrode. In my 20+ years of dealing in miniatures, other that these four, I’ve only see three mint rounds, out of hundreds. I have never seen a Weston BelMex set like this, but I do have an old Weston photo of this one’s twin brother. I thought it was the same set, but the cartridge arrangement is slightly different on the one in my photo, so there’s another set almost identical to this one out there somewhere!
