Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale bolt action sporting rifle made by Musgrave in their facility in South Africa.  The Musgrave bolt action rifle is very similar to the Winchester Model 70 bolt action rifle.  Musgrave made these back in the 1980’s as a dealer promotional item.  There 50 made for the U.S. market, and another 50 made for other markets.  22″ long overall with a 12 9/16″ barrel of .168 caliber.  This example is marked MUSGRAVE on the top of the barrel.  This example is unusual in that it does not have a serial number on the left side of the front receiver ring.  The are usually marked US 00XX.  Maybe an inadvertent omission, or maybe an overrun on production.  The action is not functional, there are no internal parts, and the bolt only withdraws partially from the receiver.  Nicely polished blue steel metal parts.  One piece walnut stock, nicely checkered at the wrist and forearm.  Red, white, & black laminated recoil pad.  Ebony grip cap.  The stock with sling swivels fore and aft.  The barrel has a ramp front sight with the usually missing front sight shroud, and a sporting “V” notch rear sight.  One piece triggerguard/floorplate.  The safety does move, and shows a red dot when in the fire position.   The barrel is not rifled, and is only drilled about one inch deep at the muzzle.  The trigger is fixed and does not move.  Although not a functional miniature, these are really good looking, and were obviously made with skill & care for the finished product.  I haven’t had one of these in quite a while.  Near mint condition with just a few light scratches on the right side and bottom of the barrel.  I’d call it 97%.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
