Project Description

This is a 1/4 scale M1A1 Thompson sub-machine gun made by Miniart in Moscow, Russia.  7 7/8″ long overall with a 2 5/8″ barrel of about .110 caliber.  Blue steel finish with varnished straight grain walnut buttstock, pistol grip, and horizontal forearm.  Improved A1 rear sight with the protective ears on each side, sling swivels, & 30 round stick magazine.  The 30 round magazines are relatively rare and only issued with very early production 1/4 scale Miniart Thompsons.  Also has the reinforcing bolt in the wrist of the stock typical of a M1A1 which the normal M1 Thompsons did not have.  The buttplate has the trap door for an oiler, no oiler included.  The miniature is properly marked on both sides ot the upper receiver & the left side of the lower receiver & looks to have been pantograph engraved, most likely by Herschel Kopp, who marked a few of these for Imperial Miniature Armory when they were first sold (see photos).  The serial # 001 engraved into the left side.  Fully functional, including the safety, but non firing.  Includes 3 rounds of solid brass dummy ammunition that will feed, chamber, extract, & eject when the action is cycled manually.  Includes a leather sling, a 1/2 scale Thompson manual, and a repurposed black jewelry case.  As best as I can remember, this is the first Miniart 1/4 scale M1A1 that I have ever seen & been able to offer for sale.  Excellent condition.  Miniart was using cold blue on these early Thompsons, so the blue is typically starting to turn brownish.  Price:  $1,250.00.
