Project Description
!!!!!PRICE REDUCED!!!!! This s a 1/2 scale miniature Borchardt semi-automatic pistol cased with accessories, as made by Ludwig Loewe in Germany. Made by Miniart in Moscow, Russia about 25 years ago.  The pistol is 7″ long overall with a 3 11/16″ barrel.  With the stock attached the overall length is 13 1/8″.  Most of the metal parts are black blue with some small parts finished in fire blue or straw colors, & the safety finish in a French gray. The magazine release is checkered. The safety, stock attachment wheel, & wood hold open nut are serrated. The side of the removable oiler cap is knurled. 100% fully functional and will feed, chamber, extract, and eject the 5 included solid brass dummy cartridges.  Complete with a full compliment of accessories that include the shoulder stock, cheekpiece, black leather holster, wood magazine hold open with an oiler on the bottom, walnut tool handle, cleaning rod, 2 double ended screwdriver blades, two double ended punches, and shoulder strap. One of the screwdriver blades and the two pin punches are housed inside the wood magazine hold open. Unlike most of the pistols today, the Borchardt action does not lock open when the magazine is empty, & there is no provision to hold the action open built into the pistol. This is why the wood hold open is provided, to hold the action open while cleaning the barrel. All of the above cased in a beautiful Miniart hinged top walnut case with push button latch. Beautifully hand carved top showing a highly detailed incised image of the pistol with high relief carved oak leaf border. Under the pistol is carved “System Borchardt. Patent”. The case interior French fit & lined in a dark red velour, the interior lid padded. The compartment openings with a raised edge rolled velour border. There is a walnut oval block that holds the 5 dummy cartridges. The pistol and accessories are in excellent mint new condition. I haven’t had one of these for sale in over 6 years. While the DWM Borchardts are usually readily available, these Loewe Borchardts are extremely rare, as less than 10 were ever made.
A little history on the Borchardt pistols. When Borchardt, an American, invented the pistol, he could not get any of the US arms makers interested in making the pistols for him. He then went to Ludwig Loewe in Germany & contracted for a production run of 1000 pistols with accessories in hopes of garnering military & police contracts. While sales were not brisk, they were good enough that he sold the first 1000 and contacted Loewe to make a second run of pistols. Loewe had commitments such that they did not have the capacity to make them, so Borchardt contracted with DWM in Germany to make the additional order of 2000 pistols. DWM made some design changes in the pistol to make it somewhat easier to manufacture and improved the mechanism eliminating several steps in the manufacturing process. The most noticeable of these is the Loewe Borchardt has a raised “fence” on the left side of the triggerguard whereas the DWM does not. There are internal differences as well. Price Reduced:  2,950.00.
