Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! One of the most beautiful miniature handguns I have ever seen in my 30+ years dealing in miniature arms! This is a 1/2 scale French Model 1873 service revolver made by Miniart in Moscow, Russia, engraved & gold inlaid by Roger Sampson, custom high relief carved ebony grips by James Corpe, and finish work by Terry Farrand. 4 11/16″ long overall with a 2 3/16″ part octagon part round barrel of about .217 caliber. This piece first was sent to Terry Farrand, master firearms finisher who did the final high polish necessary before engraving. It was then sent to James Corpe who made the new high relief carved “Tiffany Style” ebony grips which feature grape leaves, vines, and grape clusters. From there is was sent to master engraver Roger Sampson who engraved the pistol with grape leaves and gold inlaid the grape vines and grape clusters. Then another trip to Terry Farrand who applied the finial high polish blue to the frame, barrel, & ejector rod housing. The high polish “blue” blue finish to the cylinder , cylinder pin, cylinder pin release, lanyard ring, & screws. Mr. Farrand browned triggerguard, & gold plated the hammer, trigger, & lanyard ring post. A project that took well over two years!!! Truly a masterpiece using the skills of only the finest craftsman of the day in their respected fields! Words fail, so I’ve attached lots of photos so you can see & understand the beauty & quality of the work, & taking good photos of this piece & getting the engraving to show is really difficult because the finish is so shiny.
It is really interesting how the ejector rod works on this piece as it is spring loaded and covers the cylinder pin.  The ejector rod is pulled forward with the checkered tab on the left side of the ejector rod button, then swiveled 90 degrees to eject the cartridges.  Once the ejector rod is out of the way, you push a spring loaded button on the right side of the frame to release & remove the cylinder pin.  Checkered hammer spur and loading gate top. The loading gate hinged to the rear, not the side like a Colt SAA. Absolutely mint condition.  Beautifully made!!!  Only a handful of these were ever made, & I’m sure this is the only engraved one. You don’t see very many miniature double action revolvers because they are so complicated & difficult to make. Stock # WD-3396. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
