Project Description

This exact miniature featured on page 84 of the book “The Art Of Miniature Firearms”!  This is a 1/2 scale Stevens tip up single shot rifle by master miniature maker Mike Barrett of Minnesota, engraved by master engraver Roger Sampson.  17 5/16″ long overall with a 9 27/32″ .22 caliber rifled barrel.  Blue 1/2 octagon 1/2 round barrel with the proper Stevens barrel address and caliber markings hand engraved by Mr. Sampson on the top & left upper left barrel flat near the receiver reading “J. SEPT. 6, 1864” (top flat), “44 EXTRA LONG RF” (SIDE FLAT).  Part of the barrel address on the top flat is covered by the rear sight.  The bottom of the barrel marked with the maker’s mark, an intertwined “MB” and Roger Sampson’s mark RS 98″on the underside just ahead of the receiver.  Blued barrel, dovetailed sights, hammer, trigger, and screws.  The receiver, triggerguard, & take down button are very ornately and intricately engraved and gold plated.  The receiver and triggerguard with about 80% coverage.  The left side of the receiver with an oval panel scene of a running elk.  The right side of the receiver with an oval panel scene of a wolf’s head.  There is a gold wire inlaid band at the breech end of the barrel.  Beautifully figured walnut buttstock with an oil finish.  Fully functional.  There is no chamber cut into the barrel as is typical on most of Mike’s miniatures.  Near mint condition, I’d call it 99%.  A truly eye popping piece!  Stock # WD-3058.  Price:  $5,250.00.
