!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Winchester Model 1873 “1 of 100″ rifle. 21 3/16″ long overall with a 12 1/16” rifled octagon barrel of .22 caliber. Beautiful high polish blue & case colored finish by Dough Turnbull of New York. The lettering and engraving hand engraved by master engraver Roger Sampson of Minnesota. The 48 lines to the inch checkering on the stock & forearm done by master gunstock maker James Corpe. Checkering tools this fine were not available, so James made his own! This rifle took seven years to complete, and only the very best craftsmen in their fields ever touched it. An absolutely spectacular piece, and one of the finest miniature rifles I have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale. This is a miniature of an early production gun with the barrel designation “1 of 100”. This rifle also has the early “Thumbprint” dust cover over the ejection port. Later production guns had the designation spelled out as “One of One Hundred”. Many people are aware of the 1 of 1000 rifles made famous by the movie Winchester 73 staring Jimmy Stewart, but few are aware that Winchester also made 1 of 100 rifles. Winchester made 136 1 of 1000 rifles, but less than 10 1 of 100 rifles. Both were rifles of superior accuracy than the standard production rifles, and were sold at a premium cost. For 1 of 1000 rifle, it cost $100.00 more than a standard rifle. For a 1 of 100, it was an additional $20.00. 99%+ condition.
