Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Marlin Model 1895 lever action sporting rifle made by master miniature maker Mike Barrett of Minnesota. 21 1/16″ long overall with a 12″ 1/2 octagon 1/2 round rifled barrel of .22 caliber. Machined steel construction with the steel parts finished in the white, which is how Mike sold them. The action is functional. The lever cocks the hammer & the hammer drops when the trigger is pulled, but there is no extractor, or ejector. Beautiful highly figured walnut stock & forearm. Dovetailed front sight with a steel base & brass blade. Dovetailed step adjustable sporting rear sight. Checkered hammer spur. Full length magazine, pistol grip stock, and crescent buttplate. The lower tang stamped with Mike’s intertwined MB maker’s mark just behind the lever. No other markings as is normal for Mike’s work. Mike did not do the final polish, leaving it for the engraver or final finisher to do. Mike made a number of 1/2 scale miniature Winchester rifles, but very few Marlins, and this is the only model 1895 that I know he made. This would be a spectacular piece if engraved, and then finished in blue with a case colored frame, lever, hammer, & bolt by Doug Turnbull! !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
