Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale fancy single shot Schultzen target rifle made by master miniature maker Mike Barrett of Minnesota, probably about 25 – 30 years ago. 24 5/16″ long overall with a 16 7/16″ part octagon part round rifled barrel of .22 caliber. The round part of the barrel is fluted, and the muzzle has a heavy recessed crown. There is no chamber cut into the breech end of the barrel. Dropping block style action with a fancy finger lever. The ramp style round bead front sight is dovetailed into the barrel with a set screw to hold it securely in place. The rear sight is a very fancy micrometer target style with adjustments for both windage & elevation. The sight eye piece is serrated on the edge, and is machined in concentric circles on the rear side. There is a sling swivel attached to the bottom of the barrel, and another screwed into the bottom of the buttstock. Fancy Swiss style buttplate with horns both top & bottom. Beautiful highly figured walnut buttstock & forearm. The buttstock with a raised cheek piece on the left side, and a raised thumb rest on the right. The forearm has escutcheons for a wedge, but there is no wedge. A wedge is not really necessary as the forearm is secured to the barrel by a screw through the bottom of the forearm. Mike’s maker’s mark, an intertwined MB, is stamped into the bottom of the barrel just behind the sling swivel, and again at the rear of the lower action tang. All of the steel parts are finished in the white, that’s the way Mike sold them, & other than Mike’s maker’s marks, there are no markings. There is a lever at the rear of the bottom tang. I’m not sure what it is supposed to do. The rifle features two triggers, like a double set trigger set up, but the rear set trigger is not functional. The front trigger is functional. A really cool miniature rifle by a renown master miniaturist, with a lot going for it! Stock # EC-20. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
