Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale miniature palm or squeezer pistol patented by George Webber of Chicago, patent number 788,866 on May 02, 1905, & made by Matthew Sinberg. 2 1/8″ long overall with a 7/8″ barrel of .175 caliber. Blue steel finish with a black Bakelite knob on one end. No markings. This shoots a 4mm rimfire cartridge. A full size Webber palm pistol is featured in Louis Winant’s classic book “Firearms Curiosa” with a text description on page 80 and a photograph on page 83. The text reads “This particular piece bears the patent date of May 2, 1905, and was patented by George Webber, Chicago, patent #788,866. the barrel unscrews to take a .32 centerfire cartridge. The gun is held in the palm of the hand with the hard rubber end resting against the base of the thumb. Pressure by two finger tips against the ring which slides along the barrel cocks the gun. When the ring is drawn fully back the firing pin will be disengaged and driven against the cartridge primer by spring pressure”. A really neat & unusual palm pistol, and the first one of these I have ever seen in miniature. Excellent condition showing about 95% thinning blue finish. Cased in the original Sinberg ebony hinged top case with pivoting hook latch. The interior French fit & lined in a dark red felt. The interior lid with a paper label that reads “Webber Palm Pistol, Matthew Sinberg Maker”. Includes two what looks to be dummy 4mm rimfire cartridges. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
