Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale Colt “Texas” Paterson revolver by master miniature maker Larry Smith of Florida. 3 11/32″ long overall with a 1 5/8″ octagon barrel of about .115 caliber. The hammer has both half and full cock, the cylinder must be manually indexed. This piece is made to shoot 2mm pinfire blank cartridges. Machined steel barrel, cylinder, & hammer, finished in the white. German silver investment cast frame and backstrap. Machined steel fire blued wedge, trigger, recoil shield, & screws. The cylinder with fire blue turned bands and fire blued rear pin notch details. The top flat of the barrel engraved “–Patent Arms M’g. Co. Paterson, N.J. – Colt’s Pt.–“. The bottom of the backstrap marked “212”, and L.H. SMITH, – -, FLA. U.S.A.” in three lines. Most Larry Smith Patersons have Larry’s marking on the top barrel flat. I have seen very few with the Colt markings on the top barrel flat and the Larry Smith markings on the bottom of the backstrap. Serial number 212 stamped into the bottom of the barrel, frame, backstrap, and into the rear of the cylinder. Checkered hammer spur. Yellow brass cone type front sight. Beautiful one piece mother of pearl grips. Accessories include an unmarked yellow brass Larry Smith single spout powder charger that actually holds a nice quantity of 2mm pinfire blank cartridges. When the spout top is removed by twisting & lifting, the blanks are accessible, and the ejector rod used to eject the spent blank cartridges is revealed. Next is an unmarked Larry Smith yellow brass lift top cap tin. The tin contains one cloth patch and a small quantity of slightly oxidized round lead balls. Also included is a yellow brass cleaning rod with a jagged end, walnut handle, and yellow brass ferrule. All the above cased in the original Larry Smith hinged top mahogany casing with slide latch. The interior French fit and lined in an olive green felt. The bottom of the case stamped “-L.H.-, SMITH, 212” in three lines. The revolver is mint as new. The accessories are also mint, showing a nice aged patina to the yellow brass. The case in in excellent condition, but does show some minor handling marks.
