Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale Remington Vest Pocket derringer by master miniature maker Larry Smith of Florida.  2 1/8″ long overall with a 1 5/8″ round barrel of about .110 caliber.  Charcoal blue finish except for the sides of the hammer which are polished and in the white, and two yellow brass screws.  Checkered hammer spur.  Yellow brass bead front sight.  Nicely figured two piece ivory grips with a nice aged patina and beautiful grain.  The grips have German silver escutcheons and a single fire blued screw entering from the left side.  The bottom of the barrel stamped with the serial number 58  near the trigger.  The top of the frame marked “REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y., PATENT OCT. 1, 1861”.  Includes the original Larry Smith walnut hinged top casing.  The case interior semi-French fit and lined in a olive green felt. The bottom of the case stamped “-L.H.-, SMITH, 58” in three lines.  The 58 of course the serial number of the miniature inside.  The top of the case with a rectangular German silver plate with rounded corners held in place by two yellow brass screws.  The plate pantograph engraved “FGCA” (Florida Gun Collectors Association), “SHOW AWARD, JAN. 1978”.  Accessories include 13 2mm rimfire blank cartridges and a steel cleaning/ejector rod finished in the white with a yellow brass knob.  This is the first one of these I’ve had in a long while.   Excellent as new mint condition.  The fire blue is 100%, and the grips are perfect.  I remember going to the CADA (Collector Arms Dealers Association) shows at the Tupperware Center in Orlando in my early days circa 1995, when I was working for Imperial Russian Armory, where these were still given out as show awards.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
