!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Colt # 1 derringer made by master miniature maker John Sutherland of Michigan. 2 7/16″ long overall with a 1 1/4″ barrel of about .175 caliber. Silver plated cast brass frame. The remaining parts machined steel finished in a beautiful fire blue, except for the hammer & trigger which are case colored. The top of the barrel marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. CO, HARTFORD CT. U.S.A., NO 1”. The sides, top, and backstrap of the frame, and the sides of the barrel, expertly engraved in floral scrolls, checkered ovals, and panels. Checkered hammer spur & barrel release button. Complete with the original Sutherland glass topped walnut & mahogany puzzle box case. The interior bottom French fit & lined in a dark blue velvet. The silver plating shows about 50% remaining, blending with the brass underneath. The remaining silver tarnished as to be expected. The rest of the derringer is excellent to near mint.
