!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a cased pair of 1/4 scale dueling pistols made by J. M. Vernon of Baltonsborough, England in 1968.  One pistol is percussion, the other is flintlock.  One pistol has complete internal lock work, but the mainspring will not stay in place when assembled.  The other pistol still need some internal lock work, mostly the sear & spring, the mainspring is included.  Both pistols are 4 1/4″ long overall with 2 3/4″ part octagon part round blued steel barrels.  The round part of the barrels tapering larger towards the muzzle.  Blued steel lock assemblies & triggerguards,  Brass ramrod pipes.  Both pistols with coarsely checkered pistol grips.  Both locks marked “JV”.  Both barrels engraved “Vernon”.  The flintlock pistol stamped with the number “1” into the top barrel flat near the tang.  The percussion pistol similarly stamped with the number 2.  Both pistols show signs of handling with some of the blue turning a patina plum brown.  Complete with the original Vernon English fit hinged top walnut case with two swivel hook latches.  The interior lined in a dark green felt.  The case has two lidded compartments one of which contains a number if lead balls, the other empty.  The walnut lids with ivory knobs.  The interior top with an antiqued paper label which reads “HILLSIDE HOUSE, J. M. VERNON, BALTONSBOROUGH, MCMLXVIII (1968)”.  The case bottom lined in green felt.  The Accessories include a functional steel pliers type bullet mold with sprue cutter and a lead ball in the cavity , a brass & copper powder flask, a small wood handled screwdriver, and a brass tipped ebony cleaning/loading rod, as well as the two loose mainsprings.  A really near pair of diminutive early dueling pistols that need a little work by someone with the skills to do so.  Priced accordingly.   !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
