Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/4 scale British Brown Bess musket made by master miniature maker J.M. Hick of England, probably back in the 1970’s – 1980’s.  15 3/4″ long overall with a 11 1/2″ round smoothbore barrel of .184 caliber.  Typical of English miniature makers, the barrel is not bored through to the touch hole, & is only bored about 1 7/8″ from the muzzle, & there is no touch hole at the pan.  20 1/8″ long overall with the bayonet attached.  The socket bayonet measures 5 3/8″ long overall with a 4 1/4″ triangular fluted blade.  Functional lock with both half & full cock and a nice crisp action.  Machined and hand filed steel construction on the lock assembly, barrel, ramrod, trigger, & screws, the steel parts finished in the white as were the original full size arms.  Brass furniture.  The top rear of the barrel stamped with the letter “H” as is typical of Mr. Hick’s work.  The left rear of the barrel stamped “10 07”.  Mr. Hick was a prolific maker, having made maybe a dozen or more different pieces, & multiples of each, most of which are most likely still in England.  The first number, “10”, designates the model as being a Brown Bess. the second number is the serial number.  One piece walnut stock.  A great miniature Brown Bess in the difficult 1/4 scale by a top notch maker!  Excellent near mint condition.  The steel clean & bright with no pitting.  The brass with a very nice aged patina.  The stock near mint with no marks to speak of.  Stock # BK-35.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
